4 Tips During the Holiday Season

Life has a way of getting crazy hectic. Our day to day routine works well and then the holidays add a few extra tasks that throw our schedules all out of whack. It happens to everyone so here are a few tips for success during the holiday season.

1. Be grateful.
Gratitude for the good things in your life, and daily acknowledgement of accomplishments you are proud of has been shown through multiple studies to increase satisfaction and happiness. It’s one of the key factors for those who always seem cheerful despite the chaos around them.

2. Make yourself a priority.
“Man sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health.” – Dalai Lama
If you tell yourself you don’t have time, you really mean to say it’s not a priority. A healthy lifestyle is the best medicine, saving thousands of dollars a year in cardiac related healthcare costs alone. Don’t make excuses, make habits that reflect your priorities.

3. Help others.
We should always remember how lucky we are. Sure there are lots of things to worry about from politics to the environment but remember this, we live in one of the most peaceful times in human history with historically low abject poverty and violent crime rates. It’s an incredible time to be alive, but there are some people who just need a little help. We regularly partner with local charities to help raise funds, donate gifts for kids, or help provide coats for veterans. Be a part in helping someone else in need.

4. Do better everyday, and don’t let slip ups derail your goals.
You don’t have to be perfect to improve, you just have to be disciplined. If you ate poorly during Thanksgiving break, forgive yourself for the short lapse in discipline and get back on track TODAY. If you’ve skipped the gym for a few days, or even weeks, feeling bad about it won’t get you in shape. Get back in the gym TODAY. Discipline is the secret to success. Fixating on the things you didn’t do perfect will only hold you back longer, forgive yourself for being imperfect and don’t waste another day. You aren’t in this alone. All the coaches and everyone in the community of BRFC is here to support and help you!

Make today a great one!
