Canned Food Drive

It’s that time of year again!  As we approach the holidays, Crossfit Broad Ripple would like to once again get involved with helping our community.  This will be our third annual canned food drive.  In 2011 we were able to collect over 2,000 items.  Last year in 2012 we collected over 3,000.

This year we have something new to add to the drive.  We have an online link to donate money.  In talking to Gleaners food bank we have realized that the need this year is greater than ever.  With the government shutdown the food bank has not received the funds they typically get.  Secondly, Indiana has cut back food stamps 20-40%.  This has put the food bank with an increased demand but less to give.

The food bank is able to make a dollar stretch.  For every dollar donated they are able to provide FOUR meals!  Our goal this year is to collect $750, which will equal 3,000 meals.  Just in time for the holidays.

We will run our drive starting now until Friday December 20th, 2013.

How to give:  (3 ways)

1.  Donate online to the following link.  You will automatically be generated a receipt to keep for your taxes.  Remember this is tax deductable.

2.  You can bring in donated food in cans or plastic jars (no glass please).   The greatest need is for: pasta, pasta sauce, peanut butter, canned meats such as chicken and tuna.

3.  You may also bring cash or a check to the gym.  We will have a donation can on Jeff’s desk.  If you would like a receipt for your tax deduction records leave it in an envelope with your name, amount and address so Gleaners can mail you a receipt.

Please consider giving to help our local Hoosiers who are struggling!  No child should go hungry!
