Why is self myofascial release (foam rolling) helpful?

ART [Active Release Therapy] is a patented, state of the art soft tissue system/movement based massage technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems, and tennis elbow are just a few of the many conditions that can be resolved quickly and permanently with ART. These conditions all have one important thing in common: they are often a result of overused muscles.

From http://www.activerelease.com/what_patients.asp

ART sounds a lot like self myofascial release (foam rolling), because their end goal is the same. Foam rolling is more convenient, cheaper, and works in the same way. Nobody overuses their muscles like Crossfitters. Lets get serious about our soft tissue health and roll!

P.S – You’ll find racquet balls along with the stick and the rollers now. I’ll show you how to use these fantstic tools.
